Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
John 14:27
The newest family to The Journey Home was admitted April 10. I so wish you could see their faces and hear their words in person upon their arrival – I know their comments would greatly encourage you. I explained to them about your faithful prayers and financial support. They agreed to allow me to share these quotes from them with you:
M said “I am so thankful to be in a place of safety. I have been living in fear and chaos. I am beginning to feel more calm and I know that will continue here. This feels like a place of peace and I believe I will feel more and more peaceful as I live here.” Her seven- year-old daughter said: “I am so happy to have my own bedroom and a place to play with my Barbie dolls.” They are settling in well and we are thankful to have them as part of TJH family. Thank you for your part in allowing this family to experience the peace that Jesus said He would give to His followers.
Having a wonderful House Manager living at TJH now allows us the opportunity to function well at full capacity. We are currently considering five new applicants who need a place to rebuild their lives. Please pray with us for God to give discernment in the selection process as we do not have the room for everyone who needs TJH.
Staff, guests and volunteers are looking forward to planting our garden on May 10 (weather permitting). Please let us know if you would like to join us in preparing the soil in advance and/or in the planting on that day.
We are so thankful for the staff and volunteers who assisted an Eagle Scout on his project of reseeding our back area near the playground. In the near future, he will build benches for the area to complete the final step in his project.
Please join us for a special event this Saturday, April 22, as we hold a Spring Festival to make the community more aware of TJH. Come and enjoy a fun filled day with us – and bring a friend. Details here.
Praises:
- For the privilege of joining with you in God’s work as families and individuals rebuild their lives.
- For the peace that God gives to those who follow Him.
- For TJH staff and volunteers and for their commitment to the ministry.
- For TJH Board and for their spiritual leadership.
- For the continued partnership in ministry with our community.
Prayer Requests:
- For the final planning of the Spring Festival and great attendance April 22 to promote community awareness of TJH.
- For God’s provision of vehicles and jobs for our guests.
- For God to give us discernment regarding applicants.
- For us to be an example of Jesus as we love and encourage our families and point them to Him.
Gratefully joining with you in God’s work,
Debby
