…your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

Most of us are very familiar with the Lord’s prayer. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus’ words remind us that He came to bring God’s reign and rule to our world. He wants us to seek to have His Kingdom come. Tim Keller wrote, “The Kingdom brings spiritual blessings (especially to the poor, hungry, and weeping) and is characterized by love, self-giving, and service rather than power or status. It is not merely a future heavenly reality or a purely political/earthly kingdom. It is already present in part but not yet fully realized.”

Impact of the Annual Banquet

The Annual Banquet held on August 29th was a beautiful expression of God’s Kingdom expanding on earth. Attendees experienced sweet fellowship and reached beyond themselves to touch the lives of others. It was overwhelming to witness the generosity and love that were shown. TJH is deeply grateful for your gifts and prayers. After expenses, an amazing $29,643 was raised – yet that was not the most important outcome. New connections were formed with people who heard about The Journey Home for the first time, and relationships were deepened as faithful supporters learned of God’s continued work at TJH.

Stories of Impact Shared by Our Guests

The audience was deeply touched by two of our program participants who shared personal stories of the impact TJH is having on their lives. One of these women graduated in May and is currently living in our Next Step Home. She shared: “I started at TJH and began my job search. I used the time to grow closer to God and work through emotional things I didn’t have a chance to when in survival mode. I asked God to come into my heart and surrendered it all to Him. I got my job and now have financial stability. Overall, if you are willing to trust God through it all, this program is the best decision you could ever make. I will be forever grateful for TJH and every staff member there who has now become family. Thank you to everyone that supports this wonderful place.”

Another of the women revealed: “TJH provided much more than a roof over my head. It’s given me confidence and independence. The biggest change, though, happened in my heart. I’ve learned that the things I told myself before were not the truth – God’s love is the truth. All of this – the faith and support – has helped me to be a better Mom. Today, I am hopeful for my future. I finally know what it feels like to be part of a community where people actually care about each other. Thank you to everyone who supports this program. You aren’t just giving money – you are giving moms like me a chance to realize we are strong, we are worthy, and we are finally home.”

These women are deeply grateful for the impact you have had on their lives. You have made a huge difference in many other lives as well and have helped to make lasting change for the next generation. Thank you for joining us in bringing part of heaven to earth as together we build God’s Kingdom.

Special thanks to The Point Church Louisa for their gift of time and effort on their Reach service day September 12. We are so grateful for the people who came to help with cleaning projects inside and landscaping projects outside. They did a beautiful and much appreciated job. Here are some pictures of the landscaping added to the front and side of the building.
