I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 9:1

We give thanks to the Lord for His provision for The Journey Home in 2023. He has abundantly blessed His work through the staff, volunteers, Board and YOU. Your generosity has overwhelmed and encouraged us. The challenge given at the August Banquet was to match a $50,000 gift. It is thrilling to announce that that goal has been reached. The total giving towards the match ending in December 2023 was $50,035!!

The match and other generous gifts allowed us to pay off $125,000 of our debt.

That puts us on track to reach our next goal at the August 24, 2024 banquet to pay off the remaining debt ($100,000) on the building. Our strong commitment to be debt free comes from our desire to further invest in Next Step homes to give our graduating guests more options for affordable housing while allowing them to remain connected to staff and resources at TJH.

Reaching this amazing goal was made possible by your faithful prayers and financial sacrifices. However, it is truly not about the money raised. It is about the lives you are investing in. We pray that the end of the year newsletter you received in the mail informed and encouraged you with the amazing things God is doing. We wanted to tell of His “wonderful deeds”. Those feats are about changed lives; about people who have experienced restored hope; and about people being empowered to become independent.

Recently, a local business was willing to give a guest a “second chance” and offer her a job. She has been a star employee making her employment a win/win for her and the business. How thankful we are for a community willing to enable individuals to restore dignity to their lives and provide for their family. The impact affects their children and generations to come.

Thank you for joining us in God’s work We are excited to see what “wonderful deeds” He will do in 2024 as we partner in His amazing plans.

Praises:

  • For the growth in their faith and in their independence that many guests are experiencing.
  • For the generosity of many who contributed to our Matching Gift Challenge.
  • For the blessing of joining with you in God’s work as families and individuals rebuild their lives.
  • For TJH staff and volunteers and for their commitment to the ministry.
  • For TJH Board and for their spiritual leadership.
  • For our faithful supporters of TJH.
  • For the continued partnership in ministry with our community.

Prayer requests:

  • For relationships among guests and staff to be loving and God focused.
  • For our new families who have many barriers to face in rebuilding their lives.
  • For God’s provision of vehicles and jobs for our guests.
  • For God to give us discernment regarding applicants. Several are in the process.
  • For God’s provision as we work towards paying off the remaining debt.
  • For us to be an example of Jesus as we love and encourage our families and point them to Him.
  • For new churches and individuals to join in financial and prayer support of TJH.
